We work with the people doing the work.
Betterself is an independent Australian company building statement-based tools that help people see, limit and redirect their gambling spend. The app is in closed beta with Australian users now. If you support people affected by gambling harm — clinically, at work, or through research — we'd like to hear from you.
Psychologists & financial counsellors
Most of what happens with gambling happens between sessions. Betterself gives your clients a private, judgement-free view of their actual spending — read from their own bank statements, not self-report — plus limits they set themselves, with a cooling-off period before any limit can be weakened.
- Objective spending awareness a client can choose to bring into session
- Client-controlled money rules — no clinician admin, no lock-out model
- Crisis support surfaced in-app, always free, always one tap away
Employers & wellbeing providers
Gambling harm is a workplace wellbeing and psychosocial-risk issue, and the workers most exposed are the least likely to raise a hand. We're designing employer programs where the worker's use is anonymous by design and the employer only ever sees aggregate, de-identified wellbeing signals — never an individual's data.
- A self-directed early layer that sits before EAP and counselling referrals
- Warm referral into your existing support pathways, not a replacement for them
- Privacy architecture a workforce can actually trust
Researchers & evaluators
Australia's gambling-harm evidence base is thin on real spending data. Betterself users can opt in to contribute consented, de-identified data to research — and the app can put a question in front of the right person at the right moment. We're actively seeking university partners for independent evaluation and collaborative studies.
Independent by design. Betterself takes no money from the gambling industry — no advertising, no sponsorships, no affiliate deals. Our only incentive is the one our users have: less money lost to gambling.
Each audience has its own page above — and email lands directly with the founding team.
