Terms of Use

Last updated: 23 April 2026

These terms set out the rules for using BetterSelf. They are a legal agreement between you and BetterSelf (ABN 35 696 928 097), but we’ve done our best to keep them short and in plain English. By creating an account or joining the waitlist, you agree to the terms below.

1. Eligibility

To use BetterSelf you must:

If you don’t meet all three, please do not create an account. We may close accounts that don’t meet eligibility.

2. Your account

3. Acceptable use

We ask that you don’t:

Breaches of this section may lead to suspension or termination of your account.

4. Bank data and CDR consent

Connecting a bank account is optional. If you do connect one, it happens through Basiq, an ACCC-accredited Consumer Data Right (CDR) data recipient. Before you connect you’ll see exactly what data is being shared, for how long, and for what purpose — this is the CDR consent flow required by law.

5. Disclaimers

BetterSelf is a self-help tool to support financial wellness. It is not professional counselling, medical treatment, legal advice or financial advice. The AI companion inside the app is a support tool — not a therapist, doctor, lawyer or financial planner.

If you’re in crisis right now, please reach out for real human help:

Gambling Help Online — 1800 858 858 (24/7, free and confidential)

Lifeline — 13 11 14 (24/7 crisis support)

In an emergency, always call 000.

We work hard to keep BetterSelf running smoothly, but the service is provided “as is” — we don’t guarantee the app will always be available, bug-free, or that every gambling transaction will be automatically identified. Please double-check anything you rely on financially.

6. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, to the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, BetterSelf is not liable for:

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited, to the extent the law allows, to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (which, for free accounts, will be zero).

7. Termination

You can close your account at any time from the Profile page — no questions asked. When you do, we delete your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these terms, attempts to harm the service or other users, or is required to be closed by law. Where reasonable we will give you notice and an opportunity to fix the issue first.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material we’ll let active users know by email or in-app notice. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. You and BetterSelf submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia for any dispute arising from or relating to the service, except where Australian law gives you a non-excludable right to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction.
