For professionals & partners

The session ends. The spending doesn't.

Betterself is a private, statement-based self-tracking app for people working on their gambling. For your clients, it turns the week between sessions from a blank space into something they can actually look at — and choose to bring into the room.

The data problem you already know

Self-report is the weakest number in the room. Clients round down, forget, or genuinely don't know — not because they're lying, but because gambling spend is designed to be hard to see: five apps, two cards, deposits that don't look like losses. Betterself reads the client's own bank statement on their own device and shows them the real figure, week by week, operator by operator.

Where it fits in your work

  • An objective picture, owned by the client. Statement-derived spend, money back, and patterns by day and operator — data they can choose to show you in session, from their phone.
  • Pre-commitment that holds. Clients set their own weekly limits, and weakening a limit requires a cooling-off period — the 2am impulse meets a speed bump the client chose earlier.
  • Mood–money patterns. Quick check-ins sit alongside spending, so "how were you travelling when the spending spiked?" has something to anchor to.
  • Crisis pathways always in reach. Gambling Help Online (1800 858 858) is one tap away throughout the app, always free.

The boundaries we hold

No clinician portal, no surveillance. You never get a login into your client's data. What reaches you comes from the client, in session, because they chose to show you. That's a design decision, not a missing feature.

Not a treatment. Betterself is an awareness and pre-commitment tool. It doesn't diagnose, doesn't claim clinical outcomes, and is built to sit alongside your work — never to substitute for it.

No gambling-industry money. No advertising, sponsorships, affiliate deals or operator investment. Our incentives point the same way yours do.

The person who won't ring a helpline may still download an app. Betterself is built to be the first step that costs nothing to take — and to make the next step (you) visible when they're ready.

The Perth practitioner pilot

We're inviting a small group of Perth psychologists and financial counsellors into the first pilot. It's simple: try the app yourself, put it in front of clients you judge it right for, and tell us bluntly where it helps and where it gets in the way. Your feedback shapes the clinician-adjacent features — and pilot practitioners get a direct line to the founder for the life of the product.

The app is in closed beta and free. There is nothing to buy and no lock-in — we're earning the referral, not selling it.

Interested, sceptical, or both — we want the conversation.
